Laxatives are not highly recommended by experts in losing weight as overdose of this medication may lead to diarrhea or excessive lose of body fluid. If you are constantly using this medication, you should be conscious enough on its side effects. These effects may include vomiting, stomach cramps, rectal bleeding, electrolyte disorder, dehydration, chronic diarrhea, nausea, and fainting. Eating disorders such as binge and compulsive eating, anorexia, and bulimia may also happen.
Continuous intake of laxatives for duration of time can permanently change the regular functioning patterns of your digestive system. If this effect becomes complicated, it may even lead to stomach, colon, and anal cancer. Heart attacks are also possible with laxative overdose once side effects of electrolyte content and low potassium occur.
